Gov. Steve Beshear appointed Tony Wilder as Commissioner of the Department for Local Government (DLG) in April 2008. Prior to his appointment, Commissioner Wilder served as Boyle County Judge/Executive for over 14 years. Before that role, he served as Boyle County Circuit Court Clerk from 1988-93.
During his term, Commissioner Wilder was active in his community and held many leadership roles to include president of both the Kentucky County Judge/Executive Association and the Kentucky Association of Counties. While judge, he progressively promoted Boyle county in economic and community development as well as improving infrastructure with 80 miles of resurfacing and widening road projects, 15 new bridges, expanded animal control services, zoning reform and waterline expansion. As Judge/Executive, he also helped secure funding for a new health department, a new government services center and the design and construction of the 127 acre Millennium Park.
Commissioner Wilder is also an active member of his community. He is a member of Kiwanis and Lions Clubs and participates in the mentor program for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Bluegrass.
He received a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Eastern Kentucky University and currently resides in Danville with his wife, Sandy, and their two children.
Commissioner Wilder serves on the Kentucky Housing Corporation Board, PRIDE, and is Chairman of the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority.
Deputy Commissioner Stacia Peyton

Stacia Peyton was appointed by Governor Steven Beshear to Deputy Commissioner of the Office of the Governor’s Department for Local Government (DLG) in June, 2008. The Deputy Commissioner’s duties include planning, coordinating, and supervising program operations, and assisting the commissioner in duties such as monitoring the budget, special requests, and projects.
Commissioner Peyton had served as Mayor of Dawson Springs since 1993. She was the first woman elected to this position and the first mayor of Dawson Springs to ever serve a third consecutive term. While in office, she led economic development efforts such as a $1 million Community Development Block Grant for housing rehabilitation and sewer line extension, downtown revitalization and the construction of a 50,000 square foot spec building.
She serves on multiple boards, including the Kentucky League of Cities, the Pennyrile Area Development District and Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development Board.
Commissioner Peyton was named Dawson Springs Woman of the Year three times. She was awarded the Dawson Springs Community Service Award, and the Department for Local Government’s Trailblazer Award. She is a past president of the Dawson Springs Rotary Club.
Commissioner Peyton is a native of Hopkins County where she graduated from South Hopkins High School. She attended Madisonville Community College and then owned her own business for over a decade. She currently resides in Frankfort and has two grown children.
